Harry / Snape Short Recs

Snape and Harry admit their feelings on the last day of Harry's schooling.
Although it sounds like a story that's been written so many times, this story exposes an understanding between Harry and Snape which only they knew about. The interaction and assumptions between the characters are determined and assured and the story is nice and hot.

Harry replaces Voldemort's mark on Snape to save Snape's life.
This story is a good starting place. The dynamic of Harry as lord is touched on and it's open to the possibility of a really good story. It does stand alone with a good plot as well as the character interactions, but it really needs more as it has left lots of ideas open to be worked with.

Courting Snape

Harry, and the rest of Hogwarts, thinks that Snape is being courted.
This is quite a cute story. Harry gets obsessive over Snape's relationship and in the end turns the table. The OC, Edward Southerham, is well written and very Lockhart, but what makes this story so delightful is the final couple of scenes were Snape confronts Edward Southerham and then Harry confronts Snape. There are also a lot of references to wizarding culture that are also nicely developed.

Harry's subconcious exposes itself to Snape when he hypnotically writes his desires on an assignment while exhausted for his NEWTS.
This is a cute idea, playing with UST between Snape and Harry and bringing in Lily's and Snape's own experiences writing his NEWTS. The assignment/'love letter' gets pretty explicit and it's quite hot.
Three and a half bottles of red ink (3:3:C)
A cute PWP where Harry gets drunk after winning the English World Cup and then seduces Snape.
Very funny and hot sex which makes it well worth the about 5 minutes it takes to read! The dynamic between Snape and Harry is fantastic.

Harry is rescued after being abused by Lucius Malfoy and the only one that can deal with the broken shell he's become is Snape.
This is a dark story with touches of abuse and non-con. It's beautifully written going quite deeply into the psyche of Severus as he copes with the broken shell that Harry has become after Lucius's sexual torture. It doesn't go into any detail of the breaking but the result and the reactions from the rest of Hogwarts are great.
Severus' seduction is well executed and hot with a great characterisation of his reactions.
Oh, and as an afterthought - it's a songfic - the fragments are used to lead through the story. It's a hard form to follow and while it's not a perfect songfic, the story isn't hampered either.

Harry goes to Snape and admits his feelings for him.
I'm a little mixed on this one - on one hand the story has some nice touches with the dialogue and the idea of the potions transforming feelings/orientations and the comment at the end is good. On the other hand I think Snape's motivations are not as clear as they could be, leaving it a little perplexing.

While on a potions field trip, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Snape end up in a house dropped by a cyclone in Kansas. They need to adjust to the muggle world and get back home.
This story has some nice touches of life in a small country town and the seduction of Snape (or rather admission of Snape) by Harry is written well. There are some gender issues in this story but they are minor. The real world is blended with the wizarding world and the battle with Voldemort quite well. It could go a little deeper into motivations but is a thoroughly enjoyable story.

In this 19th Century AU, Severus is pressured into marrying and begetting a heir. His aunt Minerva chooses Harriet Jane Potter for him. The only problem is that Severus is Gay, and Harriet's a girl - or is she?
The idea is carried through consistently with some nice twists, and it's quite a cute read. I would have liked Sev to have fallen a little more for 'Harriet' and maybe some more about 'Harriet's' adjustment to transgenderdom but the story works nicely as a pseudo-gothic tale anyway.

Loving Potions

Draco causes Harry to take a potion which backfires and causes Sev and Harry to fall in love. They take antidotes but the summer after Harry kills Voldemort, Sev comes and rescues him from the Dursleys and takes him to a potions conference.
The thing I like the most about this story is the portrayal of Harry. He grows up. After having a potion which makes him fall in love with Sev, and then being cured of it, Harry defeats Voldemort and is united with Sev. Both of their reactions and involvements are reasonably canon-consistent, particularly in Sev's blend of reticence and faith/love.
The plot for this story is well crafted with more than just a love story to push it along. I only cringed once, and that was at a kinda soppy bit, so it was a soppy-cringe rather than a story-cringe :)
I've read this story twice now and enjoyed it both times - I think it'll be on my reread list!

Harry chose not to make a big deal of his part in the war. After Severus tells him that their relationship isn't enough, Harry disappears for two years and returns with Draco in tow to teach DADA.
This story is, and isn't, special. Even though it's not as good as say, MOP or WAFD, the interactions and characters are well crafted. There are some interesting ideas, such as the duelling club, and Draco's participation is fantastic. It's a lot less AU than the others and all of the characters motivations fit with the story and with canon-esque. I'll admit some of my disappointment in the story is that it didn't end up H/D/S which it could have done, but the choice worked for the characters as written.

In this AU, Harry is a young pianist who is suffering from Lukemia. The Make-a-Wish foundation grants him his greatest wish: to meet Severus Snape, Pianist and Musician extrodinaire.
I read this story ages ago and really enjoyed it. It's got a great build up between Harry and Sev. Draco and Lucius are fantastic. The details about the AU build a world that feels real and the characters are, again, introduced in roles that make sense to their characters. I just hate the end ;) - Missing R scenes are available on her Yahoo group and she links from ff.net
Three and a half pianos out of five (3:4:A)
A mirror is brought to Hogwarts and when Harry deciphers the parseltongue inscription he is pulled into an alternate universe where he is dead and Voldemort rules as Evil overlord of Europe. Assuming a new identity, he is sorted into Slytherin where he becomes best friends with Draco, and Ravenclaw Hermione, and eventually Sev's lover. (MOP)
EOE and POB are set 7 years after MOP, and back in Harry's home universe, respectively.
This is a well thought out AU with great dynamics between Harry/Sev, Harry/Draco, Draco/Hermione etc. The introduction of characters from HP (Harry's home universe) are handled very well with lots of thought about how the differences would affect each of the characters. Sirius is great.
The importance of Voldie and Dumbledore and the balance between the dark and the light forces is great. Severus' reactions and his growing and then implemented relationship is integrated nicely into the story as well.
Both of the sequels have started well - they can actually be read separately rather than as 2nd and 3rd - and are developing the characters and relationships brilliantly. I can't wait for more!
Four mirrors out of five (4:4:A)
After the defeat of Voldemort the British Wizarding World is left without magic. Severus adjusts in a small Scottish town where he is visited by a Crup, a remnant magical creature.
Severus and The Crup is a story about the recovery of the wizarding world after magic is gone and nearly everyone is dead. At first it focuses on Severus living as a Muggle and then it slowly brings magic and then the Wizarding World back into their lives. The love story between Harry and Severus is secondary to the social plot.
I liked the way that it dealt with the world four years later, although it seemed to meld together a little too easily in places. That isn't to say that there aren't suggestions of future darkness. It does make some sense in regards to how people may bond together in post-stress situations but the survivors, particularly Harry and Severus weren't really broken - or rather their brokenness wasn't resolved cleanly.
